Sams ex-wife was a homeless woman who left her after finding another place to sleep. This is an example of a relationship issue. There was no connection between Sam and his wife. Her wife was a homeless woman who just needed a place to live. After finding a better and richer person than Sam she left him. This shows that how damaging bad relationships can be for anyone. It completely breaks down Sam who is left alone to support her daughter. However, Sam finds good companionship with his friends and neighbors. They support both Sam and his daughter Lucy. This shows that society is made up of diverse people. Some people may fe el cold, while others will leave no stone unturned to help you out in your difficult situations. Another example of a bad relationship in the film is found between Sams lawyer and her husband. Sams help her to deal with her husband. His lawyers husband was found cheating on her. Sams unwitting helps her to get rid of him. This again shows the fragile relationship between two individuals who cannot connect because of different personalities or because they are unable to find time for each other. Sams lawyer Rita Harrison is a busy lawyer who had fast paced life. She decides to help Sam on a pro-bono. This was surprising because many people found her to be cold and mean. This again shows how quickly people make assumption about the people. They do not see the other side of people and make judgments about them seeing only one facet of their life. Rita helps Sam win the parental rights of Lucie. This again shows that on one hand Rita was found to be mean by some and on the other shes helping some who needs her. In return she gets moral support from Sam to call time on her husband after she finds him cheating on her. This shows the diversity in the society. On one hand people like Sam are struggling to get their ends meet, and on the other hand successful people like Rita and her husband takes life for granted.
